Notes from Troop 874 - Thursday 31 May 2007

Congratulations to Brian S! – Brian completed his Eagle Board of Review on Wednesday evening and is our Troop's newest Eagle!

Service Project – Mr. Dean Clark needs help cleaning out and rearranging the supply shed tomorrow, Saturday June 2 nd at 2:00 in the afternoon. This counts as service time. We can really use your help!

Mr. Scarburgh announced that an Eagle Scout Project will be to collect, recondition and send baseball equipment to needy youth in South America. If you have unused equipment that can be repaired, please keep it off to the side and Mr. Scarburgh or the scout will soon inform us of details for pick-up or collection.

Medical forms for boys and adults attending summer camps –Mrs. Bietry will review forms with you during troop meetings. Please see her! Boys and adults without the up to date medical forms cannot attend scout camps.  Parents, please review these forms in person with Mrs. Rita Bietry. The Class I physical must be updated annually. A valid Class II physical is required for boys and adults below the age of 40. The Class II physical is good for 3 years. A Class III physical is required for adults 40 years of age and older and for all youth and adults who are engaging in a high adventure activity ( e.g., COPE, Sea Base, Philmont, etc.). The Class III physical is good for one year. Medical forms can be found on the troop's web site at: http://troop874.com/policies.htm.

Senior Patrol Leader Candidates – Boys who wish to be the next SPL should talk with Mr. McGovern as soon as possible. They need to tell him why they want to run for this position. Elections are approaching and opportunity is knocking.

Thanks to all who attended "We Remember" – The cemetery was covered with thousands of small American flags and it looked great. The ceremony was brief, but moving.

Sea Base 2008 – The Troop has an opportunity to send a Crew to Sea Base in 2008 (14-20 August). The boys and two adults would spend a week aboard a large sail boat, cruising from Sea Base to Key West and back. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Meister.

Ryan R. Returned – One of our Eagle Scouts from 2005 returned to visit the troop last evening. Ryan explained that he is now a student at Penn State and will work at a local swimming pool for the summer. Thanks for stopping in, Ryan.

PLC on Monday – Just a reminder – it starts at 7:00 p.m.

Respectfully,

Bob Johnson
