Troop Notes September 30, 2007

Equipment cleaning and repair - Mr. Clark would like help at 10:00 on Saturday, 1 September, at the troop's equipment shed in the parking lot of Glen Mar UMC. This will count as service time. Also, please look in your basement and garage for the troop's equipment and bring it to the shed on Saturday or to the next troop meeting. We need the troop's equipment returned.

Service time to benefit Habitat for Humanity & the American Heart Association - If you are not camping with the troop.... Mrs. Clay would like help on Saturday, 15 September, to move art that was bought as part of an auction to benefit these charities. She requests boys who are 14 and older and needs help from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Howard County Conservancy. Directions are at: http://www.hcconservancy.org/Directions.htm . If more information is needed, please contact Mrs. Clay. This also counts as service time.

Camping in September – The troop will go camping at Calvert Cliffs from 14-16 September. The permission slips are due next week. Please print a copy of the permission slip (attached) as none will be available at the meeting.

Adults going camping in September – Mr. Springer needs your $20 for food next week.

Philmont 2008 – Mr. Filipczak needs a $200 payment and your completed applications by next Thursday's meeting. You will probably also get a personal reminder from him.

Eagle Project – Matt S.'s Eagle Project will be on 22 and 29 September. He will be making a memorial garden at the Mount Hebron Presbyterian Church (intersection of Rt. 29 and Rt. 99). A flyer is attached and, of course, food and drink will be provided. For more information, contact Matt.

Sea Base 2008 – If you want to go sailing in the Florida Keys from the BSA high adventure Sea Base in 2008, please come (with a $100 deposit) to the meeting next week. There are openings for only six boys. Two adults have been identified who will accompany the boys on this trip. Boys must be must be 14 years of age by September 1, 2008. We estimate the cost of the trip to be approximately $1,000. For more information on Sea Base, see: http://www.bsaseabase.org/. We will go on the "Coral Reef Sailing Adventure".

New meeting spaces – Because the Venture Program is now the largest in the troop, they are meeting in the main hall and the other two programs meet upstairs. Thanks to everyone for being respectful of the church's property and courteous of the other groups that share Glen Mar's facilities with us on Thursday evenings.

Due to the holiday Rosh Hashanah, there will be no meeting on 13 September.
