Troop Notes October 4, 2007

Danny F. announced his Eagle Scout Project will be held this Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7 at the Therapeutic Recreational and Riding Center, Glenwood, Maryland.  Danny's project will restore a natural area by removing invasive plants and planting native plants.   Fence painting and other tasks will be undertaken.  See the attached flyer for more information.

Mr. Mark Moulding will host a planning session for the October Role Play at his home in Ellicott City.  The meeting runs from 7:00 to 9:00 pm every Sunday until the Role Play weekend.  All Ventures and Instructors are requested to attend.   This is a great opportunity for older scouts to provide valuable service the scouting program and to have a fun weekend.

Speaking of the October Role Play (Oct 26-28), permission slips must be returned next Thursday evening at the Troop meeting.   See the attached permission slip.

The troop is also planning fund raising events to support the Wish-Upon-A-Star program.    The Troop will host an evening of dining at the Pizza Hut (Route 108) on Monday, October 29.  See the attached flyer with more info to follow.   The troop is also in the preliminary stages of planning two concession stands at the Simon Decker Soccer Tournament on November 10 and 11.  Proceeds will support the Wish-Upon-A-Star program which is a collaborative effort between Troop 874 and Glen Mar United Methodist Church in which our scouts shop for Christmas presents for several needy families.

The troop will not conduct popcorn sales this year but if you have a hankering for high-quality popcorn from the Boy Scouts, contact Mr. Hal Clay with Pack 692.   Mr. Clay will be taking orders next week during the regular Troop meeting.

Members of the 2008 Philmont Crew should have made a payment of $210 to Mr. Filipczak this week.  If you have not yet made your payment, please contact Mr. Filipczak.
