Troop Notes from Dec. 13 2007

Supreme Sports Night Lock In – We will meet at Supreme Sports at 10:30 this evening (Friday) for our annual night of sporting activities (swimming, basketball, skating, racket ball, wally ball, and lots of other stuff). Parents should pick up the boys at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning! Please set your alarms so all boys have a ride home and the adults can go home for some much needed sleep.

Jimmy, a new scout in the Venture Program, joined the troop yesterday evening. He transferred into the troop from a troop in Laurel. Welcome to Jimmy and his dad, Phil!

January Camping Trip – As usual, this will be cabin camping and we will concentrate on rank advancement. Mr. Clark will do Computer Merit Badge and can accommodate 12 boys; as of last night, there were only three slots remaining. Mr. McGovern will do Fire Safety Merit Badge and can work with 6 boys; I don't know how many (if any) slots still are open for that badge. If you want to do either of these, contact these adults ASAP. Other merit badges will be announced as plans for the trip are firmed up.

The Quartermaster asked the scouts to return all troop equipment during the next meeting. The next time it will be used is for the camping trip in March and we must get it back into the shed. Please look through your garage and basement for any equipment!

The boys have planned a soirée for next Thursday's meeting. You won't want to miss this meeting!!!

Also, after next week's meeting we will sell candy that was left over from the Simon Decker Tournament fund raiser. Prices will be very reasonable as we do not want to store the candy any longer than necessary.

February 2008 Ski Trip – Our annual ski outing will be at Timberline Resort in West Virginia on 8-10 Feb. 2008. The cost is $149 per person and includes ski rental, a lesson, lodging, Fri-Sun lift ticket and all meals. Mr. Dave Eddy has permission slips and is collecting registrations and a $75 deposit from each person who wants to attend. Please see him as soon as possible. This is a popular trip and spaces could fill up very quickly. This is not just for the boys; parents, brothers and sisters are all welcome!

Adults who have not yet returned the training survey to Bob Johnson, please do so. If you need a form, I've got them…. Thanks to those who have returned them.
