Troop 874 notes Jan 10. 2008

Permission slips for the camping trip on 18-20 January were due this evening. Ken Springer also collected $20 for each person who will go camping. Ken (aka "Mom") will do all the cooking! In case of emergency or if you just want to know where we will be, directions to Camp Tomahawk are on our web page ( www.troop874.com).

Our annual ski outing will be at Timberline Resort in West Virginia on 8-10 Feb. 2008. Deposits for this trip were also due this evening. Registration is now closed.  Mr. Eddy will give more information for the final payment as the trip gets closer.

Mr. Dave Dobbs will start the Music Merit Badge next week. Scouts who want to work on the merit badge should print out the requirements (from http://www.meritbadge.com/home.htm) and come prepared to participate next Thursday.

The next payment for members of the Philmont  crew was due this evening ($210). Mr. Filipczak collected the money.

Eagle Project - Kai F. will start at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, January 12th, at Grace Community Church (for the location, see http://gcconline.org/html/map.html). Kai will build a storage area inside an existing barn on the church's property. Scouts should bring work gloves and a hammer. Working at Eagle projects count as service time!

Eagle Project – Matt K. is collecting new or gently worn books of all genres to donate to a small, but growing library in Baltimore. At each of the upcoming troop meetings, he will have a box for your donated books. Please bring books to donate into our meetings.

Will you have a boy "bridging" into Boy Scouts or otherwise joining our first year program (the Pioneer Program) in March? If so, please give Jerry Fleischman, the Pioneer Program's scoutmaster, the name(s) of the boy(s) who will join the program. He needs to ensure there is adequate space for siblings of boys who are already in Troop 874. Jerry can be contacted during the troop meetings or by email.

The Quartermaster asked for the scouts to return all troop equipment! Please get this stuff back to our equipment shed.

Lost and found clothing and other equipment is with the Senior Patrol Leader. See him to pick up your stuff. He has some good clothing and parents may be surprised what their sons have "lost".

Two of our Eagle scouts, Brent M. and Kevin C., returned this evening. Brent is received his Eagle rank in 1998 and is now a medic / firefighter in Montgomery County, and he came back to help with merit badges. Kevin received his Eagle in 2006 and is currently a student at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Thanks for stopping in, guys!
