Thanks to the boys of Packs 692, 495 and 794 for visiting us last night. Thanks also to our boys who showed them what Troop 874 is all about.

The dates for summer camp have not been firmly established. We should have firm dates very soon. The dates that we are looking at are either 6-12 July or 13-19 July. We will send a special email to the troop as soon as the week is set. They still could go either way. So, please hold on just a few more days on your summer plans.... Remember, boys who attend summer camp have a much better chance of staying in the Scouting Program.

On 9-10 February, Troop 874 will reinstitute a long tradition of winter camping -- the February Freeze Out! It will be at Broad Creek this year. Because we are a little late in planning this event, please contact Mr. Mike Meister if you want to attend. It is for boys and parents of all ages. This is really great fun and no one really freezes!

One of the Venture patrols will go to the Outer Banks from 13-19 July as their summer camp. This will be for fishing, swimming, hiking, etc. If you are a Venture Scout and want to attend, contact one of your Scoutmasters.

Scouting for Food bag distribution is Saturday, 23 February. Food pick up is the following Saturday on 1 March. Both dates count as service time. Plan on helping!

The second and final payment of $75 for the skiing trip was due yesterday to Mr. Dave Eddy. If you have not paid and if you haven't given him ski length, boot size, special requests, etc., you must do that very quickly.

Troop 874 will once again run the monkey bridge at the Klondike Derby on Saturday February 2 at the McKeldin Area.  Many scouts are needed throughout the day to erect and dismantle the bridge and assist Cub Scouts crossing the bridge. If you haven't already signed up, but would like to attend, contact Mr. Greg Fabella (gfabella@comcast.net). Carpooling is mandatory!

Matt Kennelly is continuing to collect books for a Baltimore inner city school for his Eagle project.  On 9 and 16 February, Matt will also be handing out plastic bags and fliers in local neighborhoods announcing collection and pick-up of books.

This note is from Mrs. Elisa Gladmon:   I would like to thank all my fellow Scouters and friends for the show of support during the difficult time following my fathers death. Your thoughts and prayers have meant a great deal to me in this difficult time of my life.  This goes to prove what a wonderful organization the Scouts are. Thanks again.
