Troop 874's Court of Honor is next Thursday. Parents, plan
on being present as your son's receive merit badges, advance in rank or assume
a leadership position. Your attendance demonstrates your support for your boys
and for the troop!
Merit badge counselors who keep personal records for
progress on merit badges and who know of boys who have completed the merit
badges, should ensure our advancement chair, Mrs. Colleen Beaumont, has that
information several days before the Court of Honor. We are specifically
concerned about merit badges that might have been completed during the January
camping trip.
Scout Sunday – Volunteers to deliver a sermon, do readings
or to usher during church services at Glen Mar UMC on Scout Sunday (March 9th)
should contact the SPL or Mr. MacInnes. This counts as service time!
The dates for summer camp are 13-19 July at Broad Creek
Memorial Scout Reservation. More information will be coming out within the next
several weeks.
Bag delivery for Scouting for Food will start from the
church parking lot at 9:00 on Saturday, February 23rd. This will count for
service time!
Eagle Project – On 1 & 2 March and on 8 & 9 March,
Mahesh will construct a concrete area where kids can
play basketball at the Therapeutic and
Adult training opportunity – Wagon Wheel
Who Should Attend?... Anyone
interested in providing the best program possible to the Scouts! This includes Scoutmasters and Assistant
Scoutmasters, Patrol Coaches, Committee members, and anyone else involved (or
who may want to be involved) in the Boy Scout Program who wishes to gain a
better insight into the workings of a troop.
This course is a "must" for any parents who are interested in
attending high adventure camps with their sons.
Registration information is on the attached flyer or contact
the course director Cheryl Murphy. Troop 874 will reimburse 100% of the
registration fee upon completion of the course!
The Senior Patrol Leader still has lost clothing and wants
to get it back to the owners. Have you lost anything lately? Maybe
boots???
Congratulations to the hearty souls who revitalized Troop
874's tradition of winter camping at the February Freeze-Out! Though they had
warm bunks to sleep in, the skiers had lots of fun, too!
