Welcome to all the new Scouts and their families who are joining Troop 874!

Congratulations once again to Josh C.! The Eagle Court of Honor this evening was fantastic!

Scouts going on the leadership training this weekend will depart from Glen Mar at 6:30 on Friday evening. They will return to the parking lot at Howard High on Sunday. The phone tree will be used to give parents the return time on Sunday.

Scouts interested in being an instructor during the next six months should contact Chris Leaf.

Scouting for Food collection will begin at 9:00 on Saturday, 1 March, from the Glen Mar parking lot.

The Troop needs use of a small forklift on Saturday, April 5th.  We will be unloading 1,300 bags of mulch. A small bobcat with a forklift attachment works fine.  We will have 20 pallets of 65 bags each, each pallet weighs about 2600 lbs.  Each pallet needs to be picked up at the end of the trucktrailer and moved a short distance (20') out of the way. The pallets are mechanically moved to the back of the trailer so the forklift works from the same location each load. If you or your business could help out, please contact me (comchair.troop874@gmail.com) or Phil Conant.

Eagle Project is this Saturday! – On 1 & 2 March and on 8 & 9 March, Mahesh will construct a concrete area where kids can play basketball at the Therapeutic and Recreational Riding Center. Details are in the attached flier. This also counts as service time!

The monthly Troop Committee meeting will be next Wednesday, March 5th, at 7:30 in room 201 at Glen Mar UMC. All registered adults are welcome to attend.

The permission slip for the March camping trip must be turned at the next troop meeting (March 6th).

The 2008 Friends of Scouting campaign continues! Mr. Bud Hunt will have fliers at the next troop meeting. Please be generous and thanks in advance for your continued support of the Scouting Program!

Adult leaders and Scouts leading Eagle Projects – When Scouts complete service hours for programs that you are running (e.g., Scouting for Food, We Remember, etc.), please give Mr. Bob Scarburgh a list of the scouts and the service hours they completed. He will keep track of those hours for their rank advancement.

Wagon Wheel - Adult Leader Training

All adults interested in providing the best program possible to the Scouts!  This includes Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, Patrol Coaches, Committee members, and anyone else involved (or who may want to be involved) in the Boy Scout Program who wishes to gain a better insight into the workings of a troop.  This course is a "must" for any parents who are interested in attending high adventure camps with their sons.  Registration information is on the troop's website or you may contact the course director Cheryl Murphy. Troop 874 will reimburse 100% of the registration fee upon completion of the course!
