Notes from Troop 874 Meeting, August 28, 2008
Court of Honor – Next Thursday, September 4 will be a Court
of Honor. All attending Scouts must be
in a complete uniform. All family
members are encouraged to attend the Court of Honor to acknowledge our scout's
accomplishments.
Permission Slips - For camping trips the Troop has initiated
a "three week rule" for submission of permission slips. This is to provide adequate time to line up
drivers and make other arrangements.
Permission Slips for the September 19-21 trip to Antietam National
Battlefield are due Thursday, September 4.
Permission slip must be returned to a scout's patrol leader. A permission slip is attached to these
meeting notes.
New Eagle Scout Application – Several new items have been
added to the application for the rank of Eagle Scout. It now includes a description of the Eagle
project and number of volunteer hours.
The new application will be included in Life to Eagle Scout binders. See Mr. Bob Scarburgh
for more information.
New Meeting Rules – With the new meeting location comes new rules which must be observed by all scouts.
After entering the meeting space there is no leaving the
meeting space (Youth World) without an adult.
The retention pond outside the meeting space is off limits
at all times.
Scout must stay in the meeting space or the four adjoining
classrooms.
There is no wondering throughout the church or other meeting
spaces.
Parents are asked to
review these rule with their sons.
All Troop gear must be returned at the next meeting. The troop is missing camping gear which has
not been returned from last season.
Scouts must check to see that they do not have any troop camping gear
such as tents and cooking gear.
Opportunities next summer – The troop is
planning a trip to Sea Base next summer.
One slot remain for one scout. See Mr. Sivo or Mr.
Feroli. The
troop is also planning a backpacking trip to High Knoll.
Leadership training is scheduled for the weekend of Sept
5-7. All newly elected or appointed
leaders must attend. See Mr. Mark Moulding or your Assistant Scoutmaster.
