Meeting Notes from Troop 874, November 13, 2008

 

Popcorn Sales and Pickup.  Scouts are reminded to pick up the= ir popcorn at the Dwyer home on Saturday or Sunday, Nov 16 or 17.  Please call the Dwyer.  All popcorn must be picked up by S= unday.

 

Role Play Meeting.  The final meeting for the November= Role Play will be held at Mr. Mark Moulding's house = on Sunday, Nov 16 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.  All members of the Venture program and Instructors should plan on attending.

 

Open House at Troop 874 for Webelos Scouts.  Next Thursday (Nov 20) the Troop will hold an Open House for interes= ted Webelos Scouts.  These Scouts will be checking out Troop 874 and will be considering becoming members of the Troop.  Members of Troop 874 should inspect their uniforms and make sure they are in a full and complete uniform (neckerchief, belt, socks).  This is part of a concerted by Tro= op adult leaders to increase the Troop's decreasing membership. 

 

Den Chiefs Needed.&nb= sp; There is a critical need for Den Chiefs in local Cub Scout Packs.  Being a Den Chief is a great way to fulfill leadership requirements for rank advancement.  It is also a great way to influenc= e Cub Scouts to join Troop 874.  See= Mr. Will Land for more information.

 

Annual Registration.  Scouts and adults who have not com= pleted registration should do so immediately!&nbs= p; After this date individuals will have to complete an application and join as new members.  See Mr. = Joe Aissi.

 

Skiing Trip in February 2009.  Permissions slips are available fo= r individuals interested in skiing in February.  Initial payments are due shortly.&n= bsp; See Mr. Dave Eddy.

 

National Boy Scout Jamboree.  There is a great opportunity to at= tend the BSA Jamboree in Fort A.P. Hill in July 2010.  This Jamboree will celebrate the 1= 00th Anniversary of Scouting in the United States.=   It will also be the last Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill as scouting is seeking a new location.  Two s= couts from Troop 874 have already signed up.&nbs= p; Scouts can speak with Daniel Hunt and Sam Kraft.  Scouts must be at least 12 years o= f age by July 1, 2010 and no older than 18 by August 4, 2010.  To register with the Baltimore Area contingent at:  www.MyScouting= .org.  For additional information go to www.bsajamboree.org or contact Mr. Bud Hunt. 

 

New Eagle Scouts.  Congratulations to Tommy G. who re= cently completed his Board of Review for Eagle Scout.  Tommy joins brother Reilly as a Tr= oop 874 Eagle Scout.  Congratulati= ons to Tommy and his entire family.

 

Thanks to Troop 56 from the Mid Night Sun Council in <= st1:State w:st=3D"on">Alaska.  Representatives from the Troop pro= vided a great photo show of Scouting in Alaska.  Imagine camping in -40 degrees F temperatures?!
