Meeting Notes from Troop 874, February 5, 2009
Den Chiefs Needed.
Many local Cub Scout packs could use a few good scouts! For boy scouts serving as a den chief is a
great way to earn their leadership for rank advancement. It is also a way to influence cub scouts to
consider joining boy scouts, especially Troop 874. See Mr. Will Land for more information.
February Freeze Out Camping Trip. Permission slips are past due. Adults planning to attend should contact Mr.
Ken Springer.
Scouts Restricted to Program Area. Mr. Kevin McGovern reminded scouts that they
are to remain in program areas throughout the evening meeting. Most of the scouting program takes place
inside the Glen Mar meeting spaces and scouts are prohibited from roaming
throughout the building. If a scout is
outside the immediate meeting spaces participating in a scouting program
(outside cooking demonstration) that does not give them the freedom to range
elsewhere on the Glen Mar property or to leave the property. Parents are asked to reinforce this concept
with their sons.
Mulch Sales. The Troop is once again sponsoring a hardwood
bark mulch sale. Scouts will deliver 2.0
cu. ft. bags (minimum order 5 bags for delivery) to your home for a cost of
$3.75 per bag. You can order through the
troop web site (http://www.troop874.com/Events/MulchSaleOrderForm.htm) or use
the attached form. Order
by March 22 for delivery on Saturday, March 28. See Mr. Phil Conant for more information
(e-mail: Troop874.mulch@gmail.com). We
also need adults to help Phil plan the delivery and Scouts are expected to
assist in delivering the mulch. Proceeds
go directly to the troop. See attached
ordering form.
News Worth Repeating
Outer Banks Adventure (OBX).
One additional adult is required for the OBX Adventure. Contact Mr. Mike Meister.
Scout Dues Are Overdue!
More than 50 scouts are more than $5.00 behind in their troop dues. Scouts should check with their Assistant
Senior Patrol Leader or Patrol Leader to determine if they are behind in their
dues. It is the scout's responsibility
to keep their dues current.
Summer Camp at
American Odyssey Relay Race. The Troop is looking for one more scout to
round out the rooster for the Relay.
Interested scouts should complete the attached registration form and
return to Mr. Hunt ASAP. The fee is $100
and the check should be made to Troop 874.
The Troop hopes to field a team of at least 8 scouts and 4 adults for
this April 2009 event. For more information contact Mr. Bud Hunt or Mr. Todd Pearsall.
