Troop 874 meeting notes – June 18, 2009

Senior Patrol Elections – Congratulations to Conor S, who was elected SPL for the next leadership round.  Also thanks to SPL candidates Alex S and Tyler N who stepped forward to run for SPL.  All the candidates ran spirited campaigns.

Patrol Formations and Selection of Patrol and Crew Leaders – The Ranger and Venture programs will re-form patrols and elect leaders for these patrols and crews on Thursday, June 25.  Scouts should come ready to serve in these important positions.  Scouts should confirm their need for leadership to advance to the next rank.  Scouts, it is your scouting career and program to run and manage!!!

Troop T-shirts: New Troop T-shirts are available beginning on Thursday, June 18 from Dennis Gajewski.  Shirts that were previously ordered will be provided first.  A limited number of new Troop T-shirts will also be available for $14 each.

Old Troop T-shirts:  A few of the previous troop T-shirts will be available for $7 each.  These are new shirts (not recycled!) in the old style (beige color) and are a great bargain that is sure to sell quickly.

Troop Hats:  Troop hats will also be available for purchase on Thursday.  Scouts are required to wear a troop hat to summer camp.  Don’t forget to print your scout’s name in that new hat!  See Dennis G to purchase a troop hat.

Information on 2009 Summer Camp – Attached are two files with information on 2009 Summer Camp at Camp Ockanickon.  This information was provided during the parent's orientation but the troop wanted to make it available again.

Looking for more information and photographs of Camp Ockanickon?  Go to the camp web site:  http://www.ockanickon.org/

You will see great photos of the camp facility including the pool, dining hall, science lodge, shooting ranges, and hot tub (yes) at the pool.

Missing Tents – Yes, several tents have not been returned from the last camping trip.  Scouts should check their gear and make sure the tents are clean and dry before returning them to the troop.  Make sure you see your program quartermaster or the troop quartermaster.

Baltimore Orioles game tickets – Tickets for the Saturday, June 27 Orioles – National game are still available but the number of tickets is limited.  The cost is $7.00, a real bargain.  See Jarred G or contact Mr. Pier Carroll.  Note:  because this will be a Troop function adults are expected to refrain from drinking alcohol while attending with the troop.

Merit Badge Selections for Camp Ockanickon – Ranger and Venture attending Camp Ockanickon this summer should have received a merit badge selection form.  These forms must be completed before attending camp so that individual schedules can be assembled.  Scouts must consult with an adult leader in their assigned program (assistant scoutmaster, patrol coach, etc).  Completed forms must be returned to Mr. Ludlow ASAP.

Summer Camp Physicals – Beginning June 4 Rita Bietry will be collecting physicals for summer camp attendees.  Scouts will need a Class 1 and Class 2 physical or have a current Class 3 physical.  Parts A and C of the physical must be completed.  An electronic version of the BSA physical is available on the Baltimore Area Council website (http://www.doubleknot.com/openrosters/DocDownload.asp?orgkey=749&id=54259)

Or go to the BAC web site (http://www.baltimorebsa.org/) and click on “forms”.
