Spa and Wellness Day – The Cancer Support Foundation is sponsoring a spa and wellness day on November 7 at Homewood Suites, 8320 Benson Ave, Columbia, MD 21045.  The tickets are $20 and proceeds support the Cancer Support Foundation.  See Mr. Hal Clay for more information.

Popcorn sales – The troop began its 2009 Popcorn Sale on September 3 and the program will run through October 17.  Scouts are selling Trail’s End popcorn which is a great product with several varieties available.  There are incentives (prizes) offered by the Baltimore Area Council to the highest seller.  How about a trip to Disney World?  That is the Council prize for the scout with the highest sales.  You can also win a week of summer camp at Broad Creek.  There are also weekly sales prizes.  The Troop is offering a rock climbing party at Earth Treks for the patrol with the highest average sales (per scout).  And if that is not enough incentive to sell popcorn approximately 70% of the sales go to scouting including 30-35% going to the Troop.  The troop profits support the Wish Upon A Star program at Glen Mar UMC where gifts are purchased for distribution to needy families at the Christmas season.

For more information on the Trail End popcorn sales see Mrs. Karla Dwyer.

Sea Base Opportunity - One space remains available for a scout to attend the 2010 Sea Base Adventure from July 18-24, 2010.  See Mr. Olson at the next meeting.  Sea Base is a great Boy Scout program of sailing and adventure in the Florida Keys.

Use of Glen Mar UMC spaces – To reduce wear and tear on the new church spaces Glen Mar UMC has requested that troop members stay out of church spaces that are carpeted.  Members of troop 874 are allowed to use the carpeted spaces that lead to the restrooms.
