Subject: Notes from Troop 874 - 19 April 2007

The Troop 874 Dinner and Court of Honor will be on Sunday, June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are a must and will be available at every Troop meeting until May 24 th. The buffet menu includes salad, sliced beef, marinated chicken, veg, rolls and drinks. The cost is $10 for ages 11 and up and $8 for under 11 years old. The Court of Honor is free and we will recognize the fantastic achievements that our scouts have made during the past several months. The location wasn't on the flier (sent home with the boys), but it will be close by and Grandpa Fox (Mr. Randy Possehl) will have that information at the next meeting.

Troop has a confirmed slot for Philmont Scout Reservation in 2008!   The dates are 2-15 July 2008. If you want to attend, you must get a $250 deposit per person to Mr. Mike Meister immediately

Training for Adults – The troop will pay 100% of the cost for adults to attend Wagon Wheel (also known as – Scoutmastership Fundamentals). You don't need to be a scoutmaster to attend and every adult will benefit from the training. Ultimately, the boys will be the ones to really benefit. Training starts on April 28 th, so adults must move quickly to get in on this opportunity. For all the info, please see the flier at: http://nationalpike.org/an_brochures/2007_SpringWagonWheel.pdf.

Personal Fitness Merit Badge – Once again, Mrs. Gloria Serrao will hold a session for the Personal Fitness Merit Badge on Saturday, April 21 at 9:00 am at Howard High School. This is one of the merit badges for Eagle! Be at Howard High School at 9:00 am SHARP!

Eagle Project CONTINUES! – The second and final(?) day for Shawn B's Eagle Scout project on Saturday, April 21, starting at Parking Lot B, Old Ellicott City.    Look for the parking lot across from the B&O Railroad Museum on Frederick Road/Main Street. Shawn is restoring the waterfront area in historic Ellicott City. Bring work gloves, eyewear, long sleeve shirt and long pants, hedge clippers, shovels, rakes. For Pioneers and Rangers looking for advancement to First Class this project counts as an outing and service time. See the attached flier.

Friends of Scouting Campaign is wrapping up! This is our final plea for your contributions to the annual FFOS campaign. So far, the Troop's total contribution is $7,400, but last year it was even higher. Thanks to everyone who has contributed.... But, if you haven't yet made a donation, please consider doing so. Whatever you can give would be gratefully accepted and used to benefit our youth. The Wise and Wonderful, or is that the Great and Powerful, Bud Hunt can answer any and all questions. The FFOS contribution form is attached. Please fill it out (thanks for you contribution) and mail it directly to:
