Troop 874 meets every Thursday night year round at Glen Mar UMC.

Troop meeting time is from 7:30 to 9:00.  Scouts are asked to arrive 10 minutes early so that the meetings may begin on time.

Troop meetings are normally held in the Spirit Center.  However, on occasion Glen Mar will require the use of the Spirit Center for a church function.  At those times the Troop will be asked to utilize alternate space(s) on the first floor, or on the outside lawn.

Formal Troop meetings begin the first week of school (late August) and continue up to the week before Summer Camp (mid-July).  Informal Troop meetings (attendance and uniforms optional, no ceremony) are held for the remainder of the summer.  There will be 4-6 times throughout the year (usually holiday periods) when meetings are canceled.

Parents are encouraged (but not required) to stay for the entire meeting to assist the scouts with advancement requirements and merit badges, or assist with review boards, planning, and many other Troop activities, or just hang around and get to know your fellow Troop leaders/parents.

Most formal Troop meetings follow a similar format outlined below, but occasionally the meeting format will be altered (whole or in part) to accommodate a special Troop function (eg. CoH, leadership induction, Order of the Arrow, etc.)

Opening (5-10 minutes)

Patrol Meetings (60+ minutes)

- Each patrol meets separately for that evening’s program.

Closing (10-15 minutes)
